Anna Pennant is one of the latest Faith in Action Volunteers. She grew up in the Church of England, moving around the UK as her mother served as a vicar. She studied Natural Sciences at Keele University, specialising in physics, and spent an international year in Canada, where she explored a broader range of subjects, including religion.
A transformative gap year volunteering with L’Arche, supporting people with learning disabilities, encouraged Anna to reflect on her faith and how it connects with everyday life. During university, she became actively involved in chaplaincy and deepened her understanding of different Christian traditions. This inspired her to volunteer with the Columbans, where she is broadening her experience of Catholicism, interfaith dialogue and mission.
Anna has enjoyed getting involved in a wide range of activities, from practical community projects to supporting asylum seekers at St Chad’s Sanctuary. As she considers training to become a teacher, she is embracing the opportunities this year offers to learn more about herself, deepen her faith and discern what the future may hold.
