Intercessions for the 4th Sunday of Lent

by Emma Darling

Fr. Denis Carter has kindly prepared intercessions for the 4th Sunday of Lent.

PRIEST: God our Heavenly Father sees and hears the plight of his people and in boundless love sends his Word to rescue us, let us rejoice and pray for strength and courage to respond to that Love and turn to him with faith.

READER: As disciples of Christ we must produce the fruit that God wants from us, May our lives our work and love be signs of true worship. Lord hear us.  Come Lord Jesus.

Let us pray for Pope Francis, May the Holy Spirit guide and inspire him as he recovers. Lord Hear us. Come Lord Jesus.

Let us pray for missionaries the as they bring the Good News of God’s Love and compassion, may those who hear it be brought into God’s family. Lord hear us. Lord graciously hear us.

We pray for the victims of war and violence and especially for the wounded children who suffer so much. Lord hear us. Come Lord Jesus.

We pray for those who are responsible for the wars, the death and destruction. May they have a change of heart and the courage to end all violent conflicts.

Lord hear us. Come Lord Jesus.

We pray especially for those, who are enslaved and unjustly deprived of liberty and freedom. May we work for justice and salvation in our world.

Lord hear us. Come Lord Jesus .

We pray for those afraid and in despair over how they are to live without employment, income, or state help. May we come to the aid of the poorest and disabled in our society. Lord hear us. Come Lord Jesus.

We remember especially the sick, those in hospital and those who are housebound, those of our own families wherever they may be. Lord hear us.  Come Lord Jesus.

Let us pray for those  who have recently died… and for all our dead… and for all who mourn that they may be comforted. Lord hear us. Come Lord Jesus.

Now let us pray for a few moments in silence for our own needs and intentions.

Let us ask Mary the Mother of the Lord to pray with us: Hail Mary…

PRIEST: Almighty and ever-living God

as we prepare ourselves by a renewal in our practice of the faith, grant that we may follow his commandments joyfully and celebrate his Passion Death and resurrection in true righteousness.

We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN
