Intercessions for the Epiphany of the Lord

Fr. Denis Carter has kindly prepared intercessions for the Epiphany of the Lord

Priest: United in faith in the Word made Flesh, we turn to the Lord who knows all our needs.

At the beginning of this New Year, we pray for the Church throughout the world that in every place Christian people may witness to Jesus the Lord, Saviour of all nations, who brings peace and unity in a darkened world. Lord hear us. Glory to God in the Highest.

Let us pray for Pope Francis, for all our bishops and for all the faithful,  that we may be true witnesses to Christ the light of all peoples and that our parishes may be places of welcome for all. Lord hear us.  Glory to God in the Highest.

Let us pray for all who feel overwhelmed by life, for those who feel that they have lost their way or feel filled with anxiety about the future. We pray that the Lord, who is the true light, will guide each person on their way, through the love and care of those around them. Lord hear us. Glory to God in the Highest.

Let us pray for those who are working to bring peace, reconciliation and lasting justice in the Middle East.; for all the troubled lands where division between Christians and other faiths, result in violence and death; Lord, let your peace reign in the hearts of all. Lord hear us.  Glory to God in the Highest.

Let us pray for all who are sick at this time. We pray especially for those who are in hospital and those who are housebound. Lord hear us.  Glory to God in the Highest.

Now let us pray for a few moments for our own private needs and intentions…

Let us ask Mary the mother of the Lord, who pondered this great mystery in her heart, to pray with us as we say: Hail Mary …

Priest: Almighty and ever living God,

you chose that your Son Jesus should be born amongst us

and revealed as the Saviour of all, the light of all nations.

By the power of your Holy Spirit,

deepen our faith in the same Lord who has risen from the dead

and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever.

AMEN
