INTERCESSIONS FOR THE 3rd SUNDAY OF LENT

PRIEST: The Spirit of the Lord has given us confidence in the Father’s love for us, let us rejoice and pray for strength and courage to respond to that Love and turn to him with faith.

READER: As disciples of Christ we are a covenanted people, May our practice of the commandments be a sign of true worship. Lord in your Mercy; Hear our Prayer.

As we prepare for the Passion of the Lord, may our hearts be filled with integrity and repentance.  Lord in your Mercy; Hear our Prayer.

We pray that the victims of war and violence, be helped and protected in their need. We pray especially for those who are responsible for the conflicts, that they may be given a change of heart and courage to end all violent acts. Lord in your Mercy; Hear our Prayer.

We Pray for those displaced and homeless, through armed conflict, the changing environment and political intolerance.   Lord in your Mercy; Hear our Prayer.

We pray especially for those, who are enslaved and unjustly deprived of liberty and freedom. May we work for justice and salvation in our world. Lord in your Mercy; Hear our Prayer.

We pray for those afraid and in despair over how they are to live without employment or income, may we come to the aid of the poorest in our society.  Lord in your Mercy; Hear our Prayer.

We remember especially the sick, those in hospital and those who are housebound, those of our own families wherever they may be. May they get the care and treatment they need. Lord in your Mercy; Hear our Prayer.

Let us pray for those  who have recently died… and for all our dead… and for all who mourn that they may be comforted. Lord in your Mercy; Hear our Prayer.

Now let us pray for a few moments in silence for our own needs and intentions.

Let us ask Mary the Mother of the Lord to pray with us: Hail Mary…

PRIEST: Almighty and ever-living God, as we prepare ourselves by a renewal in our practice of the faith, grant that we may follow Jesus’ commandments joyfully, and celebrate his Passion Death and resurrection in true righteousness.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN
