INTERCESSIONS FOR THE 2nd SUNDAY OF THE YEAR (B)

PRIEST: The Lord has called us to work for peace, we have heard and listened to God’s word. As we try to answer his call we turn to the Lord for the help we need.

READER: Recognising that we are called to be the living temples of the Holy Spirit, we ask the Lord to help us live up to that calling. Lord hear us. Lord graciously hear us.

READER: We pray for the Church throughout the world that Christian communities may be seen as a people who live and stay with the Lamb of God. Lord hear us. Lord graciously hear us.

Let us pray for Pope Francis and for all young people. May the faith of each be inspired and strengthened in a renewed response to the Call of Christ to reject violence and hatred. Lord hear us. Lord graciously hear us.

Let us pray that this generation hear the Call of Jesus to work for peace and reconciliation amongst all nations and peoples as missionaries, priests, sisters and dedicated Christians. Lord hear us. Lord graciously hear us.

Let us pray for the world’s leaders and diplomats that they understand that their task is to serve the people not themselves. May all nations come together in justice to build a world of peace and hope for future generations. Lord hear us. Lord graciously hear us.

Let us pray for the poor of the world, the displaced, the victims of injustice and war and changing climate, those facing floods, drought and malnutrition, and the effects of the pandemic. May the world’s wealth and abundance be justly shared with all who are in need. Lord hear us. Lord graciously hear us.

Let us pray for all who are sick and for all who are in hospital, patients and medics that they may be aware that the Lord is with them in their need. Lord hear us. Lord graciously hear us.

Let us pray for those who have recently died… and for all our dead… and for all who mourn that they may be comforted. Lord hear us. Lord graciously hear us.

Let us ask Mary the Mother of the Lord to pray with us. Hail Mary …

In the silence of our hearts, let us pray for our own families and friends.

PRIEST: Almighty and everliving God, we give thanks for the gift of being your blessed temples. Help us to be ready to share that blessing with all who are in need; we ask this through Christ our Lord. AMEN.
