INTERCESSIONS FOR THE 30th SUNDAY OF THE YEAR

PRIEST: Today we are reminded by the word of God that we have a duty to care for the stranger in our midst. Let us do this with joy and give thanks to the Lord, Glorifying his Name.

READER: As we come closer to the end of the liturgical year, we are aware of the suffering of God’s people, especially the orphan, the widow and the stranger in our midst. May we truly become their servants and loving neighbours, coming to their aid led by the love and compassion of our God. Lord in your Mercy, Hear our Prayer.

We pray for those oppressed by depression, illness and infirmity. May they be given the care and compassion they need. Lord in your Mercy, Hear our Prayer.

Let us pray for those who have lost everything through the many armed conflicts that plague our world. May we stand with them as true neighbours in their troubles. Lord in your Mercy, Hear our Prayer.

Let us pray for the world’s leaders and diplomats, those who promote violence and revenge. May their hearts be opened to the suffering that results and turn to work for reconciliation, justice and mercy, and so build a world of peace, unity and hope for
future generations. Lord in your Mercy, Hear our Prayer.

Let us pray for all young people. May they renew their faith and find their true vocation. Lord in your Mercy, Hear our Prayer.

Let us pray for Missionaries. Especially those living and working in difficult and dangerous situations. May they be strengthened and encouraged in their love of God and neighbour. Lord in your Mercy, Hear our Prayer.

Let us pray for people of the world who risk their lives for the process of peace and justice. Lord in your Mercy, Hear our Prayer.

Let us pray for those who have recently died… and for all our dead… and for all who mourn that they may be comforted. Lord in your Mercy, Hear our Prayer.

In the silence of our hearts, let us pray for our own families and friends.

Let us ask Mary the Mother of the Lord to pray with us. Hail Mary …

PRIEST: God, our heavenly Father,
we give thanks and praise and glorify your name
for the gift of being your people.
May we be always ready to share the Gospel of Hope
with all who are in need;
we ask this through Christ our Lord. AMEN.
