INTERCESSIONS FOR THE 28th SUNDAY OF THE YEAR - Prisoners week

PRIEST: The kingdom of God is like the wedding feast, where all are invited. We may not feel ready or worthy, but let us respond with gratitude and so let us turn to the Lord with all our needs.

READER: We pray for the Church throughout the world that Christian communities may truly become a place of welcome for all regardless of social status, nationality, ethnic origin or tradition. Lord hear us. Lord graciously hear us.

Let us pray for all those suffering from the violence, horrors of war and armed conflict. May we be inspired to speak out for the poor and oppressed. Lord hear us. Lord graciously hear us.

Let us pray for prisoners, those incarcerated legally or otherwise, may they be recognised as human and treated with compassion and mercy. Lord hear us. Lord graciously hear us.

Let us pray for the sick and wounded, and especially for those unable to get the medical help they need. May we find practical ways to come to their aid. Lord hear us. Lord graciously hear us.

Let us pray for those who care for the sick and injured. May they be given the support and means they need. Lord hear us. Lord graciously hear us.

And for the recently dead, may they be granted the fullness of life in Christ.

Let us ask Mary the Mother of the Lord to pray with us. Hail Mary …

In the silence of our hearts, let us pray for our own intentions.

PRIEST: Almighty and ever-living God, we give thanks for the invitation you give us to
be your people, part of your Kingdom and for all the good gifts that you set before us.
Help us to use wisely all your gifts and be ready share them ; we ask this through Christ
our Lord. AMEN.
