INTERCESSIONS FOR THE 22nd SUNDAY OF THE YEAR

PRIEST: Strengthened in the faith we have proclaimed together, let us turn to the Lord
with all our needs.

READER: Let us pray for the Church throughout the world especially for those
communities who face persecution and intolerance for the sake of their faith. Lord in
your Mercy, Hear our Prayer

Let us pray for each other, that we will find in the Eucharist we share today, the strength
to be witnesses to hope, love and faith in our daily lives – despite all who would mock our
faith or discourage us. Lord in your Mercy, Hear our Prayer

Aware of the burdens that each of us carries – the worries, the anxieties and the
difficulties in our lives; let us pray that we will encourage one another to take up our
Cross with the Lord, in the sure hope of the Resurrection. Lord in your Mercy, Hear
our Prayer

We pray for politicians and leaders of all communities and peoples, may they work
together to build a new and just peace for their troubled nations. We pray for all who risk
their lives for peace and justice. Lord in your Mercy, Hear our Prayer

Let us pray for all who bear the Cross of ill-health and long term sickness. May they be
strengthened in their journey; encouraged by our prayers and support. Lord in your
Mercy, Hear our Prayer

We pray for all Missionaries today, especially those working in dangerous and hostile
places. May their faith and courage be strengthened by our prayers. Lord in your Mercy,
Hear our Prayer.

We pray for all the recently dead, through sickness, accident or violence. May they find
the fullness of life in Christ. Lord in your Mercy, Hear our Prayer

Now let us pray for a few moments in silence for our own needs and intentions.

Let us ask Mary the Mother of the Lord to pray with us as we say: Hail Mary…

PRIEST: Almighty and ever-living God you know our deepest needs and anxieties. As
we share in this Eucharist together open our hearts to understand your plan for us and
strengthen us to do your will. We ask this through Christ our Lord. AMEN
