As part of my involvement in promoting life-giving relations between people of different faiths and cultures, I am a member of the Faith Encounter Programme and I’m pleased to be, once again, helping to coordinate the annual Faith Guiding Course.
The interfaith course aims to equip individuals with skills to become a confident Faith Guide in their local place of worship so that they can lead educational visits to the general public. The course has several components. Participants will be encouraged to understand more about their own faith, their traditions and values, as well as learn more about other faiths and interfaith relations. The participants will have support to identify similarities and differences between various faiths and acquire guiding skills that will ensure they can accurately, confidently and openly present their own faith to others.
Beginning on the 10th May 2022, the course will be delivered over eight sessions, some in person and some online via Zoom. Sessions will run from 6.30pm until 8.45pm and the final session will be on Tuesday 5th July. The course will be delivered by a team of dedicated and knowledgeable faith tutors and a number of local guest speakers will be invited to join us.
The Faith Encounter Programme is an independent initiative set up to promote religious harmony and social cohesion for the benefit of the public. Since 2007, The Faith Encounter Programme has trained over 160 Faith Guides across the Midlands from eight different faith backgrounds.
The deadline for applications is 22nd April at midday. Anyone who is interested, wishes to apply or requires more information is asked to email email@example.com.
