Celebrating the 8th Anniversary of Pope Francis’ election

Mauricio Silva, Columban Interreligious Dialogue Coordinator, reflects on the first of the Edinburgh Jesuit Centre Lenten Series sessions which he recently attended and encourages others to join him in participating in the remaining sessions which cover a range of diverse and interesting topics.

The  first  session of the Edinburgh  Jesuit Centre Lenten  Series- celebrating the  8th Anniversary of Pope Francis’ election was an exploration of’ Francis and Social Justice with the Pope’s biographer and author of ‘Let Us Dream’, Austen Ivereigh. Jesus, in his journey to the margins of society, is at the heart of Francis’ teaching on social justice the speaker suggested. He reflected on the fruitfulness of Francis’ teaching and witness, in light of the Pope’s reference to the tension between the centre and the margins of society.

The second session in the series will see Sr Imelda Poole MBE speak about ‘Francis and Migrants’ on Tuesday 2nd of March at 7.30pm via Zoom.
