This year, Warmi Huasi marks a significant milestone, celebrating two decades of unwavering dedication to one of the most vulnerable groups in Peruvian society – the children and adolescents (C&As) at risk in the marginalized communities of Lima’s northern townships and the remote areas of Paucar del Sara Sara in the High Andes Department of Ayacucho. Over the years, Warmi Huasi has been a beacon of hope and support, tirelessly working to uplift and empower those in dire need.

2023 has been a standout year for Warmi Huasi, as the organization has achieved remarkable results in its endeavors. Following the challenging pandemic years, Warmi Huasi’s efforts have accelerated, reaching full stride in engaging with children and adolescents, their families, community leaders, and a spectrum of governmental sectors, including Education, Health, Women and Vulnerable People, the Judiciary, and the Police. This comprehensive approach has fostered an environment of collaboration and support, critical for the holistic development of the communities served.

A pivotal success this year has been Warmi Huasi’s ability to bridge the gap between the public sector and the communities it serves. By advocating for and ensuring that public sector authorities fulfill their statutory roles, Warmi Huasi has laid the groundwork for a more responsive and accountable governance system. This achievement is not solely Warmi Huasi but is shared with the parents and community leaders who have stepped up, embracing their roles as active citizens. They have been instrumental in advocating for their rights and the rights of their children, holding authorities accountable, and ensuring that the voices of their communities are heard.

The empowerment of children and adolescents has been at the heart of Warmi Huasi’s mission. Through dedicated formation and accompaniment, these young individuals have been able to discover and develop their potentials, not only as individuals but also as vital members of their communities and organizations. This focus on youth empowerment is essential, as it equips them with the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to navigate the challenges they face and to advocate for their rights and well-being.

As Warmi Huasi celebrates 20 years of service, it’s clear that the organization’s impact extends beyond the immediate assistance provided. It has fostered a culture of participation, accountability, and empowerment that will continue to resonate within these communities for generations to come. Warmi Huasi’s journey is a testament to the power of community, collaboration, and commitment to making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

As we look forward to what the future holds, Warmi Huasi’s achievements serve as a beacon of hope and a model for others to follow. The journey of empowerment and development is ongoing, and with continued support and dedication, the potential for positive change is boundless. Here’s to celebrating 20 years of impactful service and to many more years of empowering Peru’s youth and their communities.
