Shabana provides the Columbans in Britain with comprehensive HR support and advice to ensure the effective and compliant delivery of HR services. Her responsibilities include managing employee relations and fostering a positive, inclusive working environment that promotes equity, diversity and respect. She ensures adherence to employment law and supports the Society in maintaining compliance with UK legislation and regulations.
She advises on the implementation of HR policies, supports managers through performance review processes, contributes to training and development initiatives, and leads the orientation and induction of new employees.
Shabana holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and Sociology and brings to the role 18 years of experience in recruitment and HR. Prior to this position, she worked at the University of Oxford for nine years, where she progressed to managing a HR function.
Originally from Oxford, Shabana relocated to Birmingham six years ago after getting married, an experience that brought plenty of positive change. Outside of work, she isa busy mum to two young daughters (aged 3 and 4), who certainly kept her on her toes! She enjoys spending time with her family and staying active, when she can, through running and exercise—something reflected by the pair of dumbbells in her office!
