Kevin McDonagh

Fr. Kevin McDonagh is an Irish Columban, ordained at Dalgan Park on April 10th 1977. He was assigned to Peru in November 1977 and began studying Spanish at Cochabamba, Bolivia until April 1978. On returning to Lima, Peru he was assigned to the parish of ‘Jesus Resucitado’ El Ermitaño in May 1978 and ministered here until June 1989. He was Parish Priest from 1983 until 1989 and  served as Regional Justice and Peace Officer between 1980 and 1984. Fr. Kevin was the Vice Dean of the local Deanery between 1984 and 1989.

Fr. Kevin returned to Ireland in the Summer of 1989 and studied Pastoral Theology at Trinity College in Dublin between 1989 and 1991. In early 1992 he was assigned to minister in the Columban parish of St. Joseph Ballymun where he worked until August of 2000.

Fr. Kevin was pleased to return to Peru in March of 2001 and was assigned to the parish of ‘Cristo Salvador’ in Lima where he worked until January 2002, at which point he was appointed to the parish of Nuestra Señora de la Paz, Motupe. Fr. Kevin continued to minister at Nuestra Señora de la Paz until 2014 and was voted to be the Regional Director of Peru in June 2004, a position he held until 2007.

It was in 2010 that Fr. Kevin became the Parish Priest of Nuestra Señora de la Paz and in May 2014, was moved to the Diocese of Chimbote, Peru and began ministering in the parish of San Pedro, Samanco. He remained in this parish until May 2023. It was whilst here that he served as  Coordinator of the Pastoral Social for the Diocese for a period of time and also as a local Dean.

Fr. Kevin joined the Columbans in Britain in October 2023 and resides in our Columban house in Ealing. From there he supports the Missions Awareness and Appeals team with promoting Columban Mission in parishes around Britain.
