Fr. Pat Sayles

Fr. Patrick Sayles was ordained a Priest at Dalgan Park on the 22nd April 1973. Born on 11th February 1943 in Hampshire, England, he attended Leicester University between 1961 and 1964.and after graduation, worked at Lucar car plant in 1964 before becoming a teacher. in a secondary school between 1964 and 1967. He studied for the priesthood at the Jesuit College in London between 1967 and 1968 and in Beda, Rome between 1968 and 1969. He continued his studies in Dalgan, Ireland between 1969 and 1973.

As a missionary, he worked in the shanty towns in Lima, Peru between 1973 and 1981. He was then called to work in Britain on vocation work alongside being part of the Caring Church Week teams in schools, parishes and universities around the country until 1987.

He was editor of the Far East magazine in Ireland between 1987 and 1995 and returned to Britain to continue working on the Far East magazine from 1995 to 2000. In the Millennium year 2000, Fr. Pat founded The Prayer Trust in the Wootton Wawen Parish which has now published some 2000 prayer books, booklets, cards and audio CDs.

In 2023, The Prayer Trust charity merged with the Columban Missionaries Britain (Missionary Society of St. Columban) and Fr. Pat came to reside in the Solihull house in 2016. He continues to lead the work of producing and sending prayer booklets to aid people in times of need and to spread God’s love for all.
