Shine upon us
As we decorate our homes
and welcome family and friends,
As we put up the greeting cards
and think of loved ones far away,
and as we prepare the food and gifts
for all the celebrations,
I ask you, Lord, to be close to me
and close to all my family.
Like the lights
of the Christmas candles
that shine upon us, Lord,
may your love warm our hearts
with the glow of your presence.
Enkindle within us peace and goodwill
so that we can celebrate
in the true spirit of Christmas.
