Columban Prayers – Plastic-free July

Our thanks to Columban Lay Missionary Jao Resari for recording this Plastic-free July prayer. Jao serves at the Hope Workers' Centre in Taiwan, where she educates and supports migrant workers in understanding their rights while advocating for fair employment conditions and lobbying the government for greater protections.

Plastic-free July

Good and gracious God, sustainer of the universe and of life on planet Earth, fill our hearts with gratitude for your boundless gifts in our surrounding natural world.
Forgive us for our over reliance on products made from plastic which are detrimental to the health of so many of your creatures.
Grant us a willingness to rectify the ongoing destructive impact that plastic waste has on the natural world.
Grant us courage and commitment to make radical changes to our lifestyle so that we greatly reduce our consumption of plastic.
Inspire in us an appreciation of the beauty of the natural world and a solidarity with all forms of life.
May the Holy Spirit show us how to be advocates for creation, respecting and caring for the web of life.
We ask all this through Jesus, our Teacher and Guide, our Mentor and Friend.
