Lay Missionaries support ‘Let’s Feed Brum’

Homeless Sunday was 11th October. Columbans in Britain explain how, through their Columban Lay Mission programme they are supporting local projects aimed at helping the homeless.

Last month, Coordinator of Columban Lay Missionaries Gertrudes C Samson together with the two new Columban lay missionaries in the Region of Britain from New Zealand, Ling Chuah and Sophia Ting, visited a local project of  ‘Let’s Feed Brum’ called ‘Tuesday Breakfast’ working with homeless people. This is part of the lay missionaries orientation and immersion in to their outreach work.

‘Let’s Feed Brum’ is a charity dedicated to providing food, drink, essential supplies and friendship to those living on the streets of Birmingham. They work with local hospitality businesses to reduce their food waste, whilst also signposting existing services that can help Birmingham’s rough sleepers to achieve independent living.

Their ‘Tuesday Breakfast’ project is one of their new initiatives in Birmingham that was started to help the homeless especially during the coronavirus outbreak.  The Columban Lay Missionaries are planning to support this project as it develops.
