INTERCESSIONS FOR THE 6th SUNDAY OF THE YEAR (C) Ethnic Justice Day

PRIEST: We have heard and listened to the word of God and we are challenged to place our trust in the Lord of life. We call on the Lord to help us make the right choice.

READER: In the Gospel we are challenged to have higher standards than the Law and human convention. Let us pray for the gift of reconciliation and peace. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.

Recognising that we are people in need of conversion and healing, we ask God to send his spirit of wisdom and faith into our hearts. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.

We pray for missionaries today, may Christ be visible in their lives. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.

We pray for those shunned and despised because of illness, disfigurement, occupation or of lifestyle. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.

Let us pray for the world’s leaders and diplomats, that they may work together with true concern and compassion for the poorest and outcast and those of ethnic divercity May their motives be for justice, peace and life. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.

Let us pray for the marginalised people among us and that together we might build a more inclusive community. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.

We pray for all those suffering the effects of extreme changes in the climate. May they find the help and comfort they need. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.

Let us pray for all who are sick and for all who are in hospital that they may be aware that the Lord is with them in their troubles. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.

Let us pray for those who have recently died... and for all our dead... and for all who mourn that they may be comforted. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us

In the silence of our hearts, let us pray for our own families and friends.

Let us ask Mary the Mother of the Lord to pray with us. Hail Mary …

PRIEST: Almighty and ever-living God, we give thanks for the gift of being people of justice and reconciliation. Help us to be ready to share that blessing with all; we ask this through Christ our Lord. AMEN.
