Flame 2019 – Columban video, with interviews of Church leaders

by Guest Contributor
The Columban missionaries in Britain have produced a six-minute video recorded at Flame 2019 on Saturday. Thousands of young Catholics packed the Wembley SSE Arena on 2 March. This huge gathering of Catholic youth happens every two years and is organised by the Catholic Youth Ministry Federation (CYMFed). The theme was #significance. https://youtu.be/x8tqDeocHnI Many diocesan bishops sat alongside their young people and youth leaders. Speakers and performers focused on the theme of each person's life being unique and special to God. Cardinal Vincent Nichols is interviewed on the video, along with other bishops, the new Director of CAFOD and the General Secretary of Pax Christi. Liturgy leader Tim Hughes led the singing of some of his famous hymns, such as ‘Here I am to worship’ and Guvna B had the young people dancing to Rap Gospel music. The Columban Director in Britain, Fr Peter Hughes, gives a short reflection. Columban Faith in Action volunteers gave a flavour of one of the fringe activities organised by Catholic groups.
