Prayers for the unemployed on the 8th Sunday of the Year

INTERCESSIONS FOR THE 8th SUNDAY OF THE YEAR (C)

PRIEST: We have heard and listened to the word of God and we are challenged to produce the fruit of faith in our lives. We call on the Lord to help us in our need.

READER: Recognising that we are entrusted with the mysteries of God, we ask God to help us live up to our responsibilities of spreading the Gospel of Life. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.

Let us pray for the unemployed and those who are about to lose their means of livelihood and their homes. Help them to overcome their sense of despair and rejection, may they find the help they need. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.

We pray for the poor, oppressed and marginalized and all those who stand with them. Help us to show that God will never abandon us. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.

May we remember that if we share it’s resources responsibly and justly, this world can provide enough for everyone, Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.

We pray for our leaders and politicians and those with the power and means. That they make real efforts to recognise and help the poorest in society. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.

Let us pray that God may keep missionaries in his special care and grant them the faith, strength and protection they need today. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.

We pray for all who are sick, those in hospital and those who are housebound. We remember especially the sick of our own parish and families wherever they may be. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.

Let us pray for those who have recently died, and for those whose anniversaries occur at this time. May they and the souls of the faithful departed find the fullness of life with Christ. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.

Let us pray for all who mourn that they may be comforted. As we ask Mary the Mother of the Lord to pray with us: Hail Mary…

Now let us pray for a few moments in silence for our own needs and intentions.

PRIEST: Almighty and ever-living God

your in your goodness we are forgiven loved and cared for more than we can understand.

As we share in this Eucharist together

may our work, the fruit of our lives be seen as true worship.

We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN
