Love Thy Neighbour: Following Jesus in an Age of ‘Us vs Them’
Join Better Story, Christian Aid, JPIT and the Fellowship of Reconciliation for a conversation about peacemaking, community development, political division, religious difference and dialogue across divides on Saturday 24th October at St .Dionis, Parsons Green in London.
Hear from experts exploring what it means to be a neighbour in a time of division, how Christians should engage with political power, the relationship between Christianity and the Far Right, and how we can respond to questions of national identity, migration and interfaith engagement.
The event will also explore how Christians can become agents of God’s peace and reconciliation at a time when our communities are increasingly divided.
The Columbans in Britain are supporting this event, with members of our Justice, Peace and Ecology team attending. We hope to see you there!
Christian Environmental Mobilisers Course
Our two newly appointed Columban Faith in Action Volunteers will be attending A Rocha’s Christian Environmental Mobilisers Course which begins in October 2026 and runs through to April 2027. The six-session course will equip participants with biblical foundations alongside practical leadership, influencing, mobilisation and action-planning skills.
Whether you’re taking your first steps in environmental leadership or already helping others make a difference, the course will help you grow in confidence and effectiveness, while developing skills in leadership, mobilisation and self-care.
The Columbans in Britain are proud members of A Rocha UK’s Partners in Action network, which connects organisations committed to caring for creation, protecting biodiversity and taking practical environmental action in their communities.
Columban ‘Living Waters’ hymn for Season of Creation 2026
This Season of Creation, Columban Missionaries around the world have come together to create ‘Living Waters’, a new hymn inspired by this year’s theme and our shared call to care for our common home. Bringing together voices and experiences from across our mission, the hymn celebrates our connection with creation and reminds us that we are all part of one shared journey.
We invite you to use the Living Waters hymn and accompanying resources in your parish, school, community or personal prayer throughout the Season of Creation. Recordings, a backing track, musical score, lyrics and presentation slides are available to download and use freely!
Columban Schools Media Competition
Now in its 10th year, the Columban Schools Media Competition invites young people aged 13–18 across Britain and Ireland to explore what it means to stay human in the age of AI. This year’s theme, Caring for people, planet and the common good, encourages students to reflect creatively on the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence through the lens of faith, the Gospel and Catholic Social Teaching.
Students can enter an original piece of writing or an original image, sharing their ideas about human dignity, social justice, our relationship with technology and our responsibility to care for one another and our common home. With cash prizes to be won, the competition is a chance for young people to make their voices heard and imagine what a truly human future could look like in an age of rapid technological change.
