The Subanens are an indigenous people who live in the mountains of Mindanao in the Philippines and face eviction from their homes by logging and mining companies. With assistance from the Columbans, they use their traditional crafting skills to make jewellery, mandalas, children’s books and cards to sell. The income generated provides food, education, housing and healthcare for their families.
Like the 2023 cards featuring the Holy Family’s flight into the desert, these five new designs for 2024 also feature acts of kindness, each bathed in the light of the Christmas star that shone brightly above the stable where Jesus was born. These original, hand-crafted cards are sold in packs of 10 that include both the 2023 and 2024 design sets.
Priced at £12 per pack plus postage (£2.95 for 1-2 packs; £3.95 for 3+), you can order the cards via PayPal at the bottom of this page or call the Mission Office on 01564 772 096.
Jesus came for the life of the world. The Subanens find life in their mountainous homeland. Together, with all people, they seek life and refuge on this God-given oasis which is the Earth and our shared home. As we begin the Season of Creation, we invite you to say a prayer for the Subanens and all who ‘seek life’ following the example and inspiration of Jesus.
