The Season of Creation 2024 is an annual ecumenical event observed by Christians around the world from 1st September to 4th October 2024. It is a time dedicated to prayer, reflection, and action to care for God’s creation. The season begins with the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation on 1st September and concludes with the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology, on the 4th October 2024. Throughout this period, Christian communities are invited to engage in activities that promote environmental stewardship, social justice, and sustainable living, inspired by the biblical mandate to “till and keep” the Earth (Genesis 2:15).
The theme for the 2024 Season of Creation focuses on the interconnectedness of all life and the urgent need to address environmental and social challenges exacerbated by climate change. It encourages Christians to embrace a lifestyle of simplicity, solidarity, and care for the marginalized, particularly those most affected by ecological degradation. The theme also calls for collective action to protect biodiversity, reduce carbon footprints, and advocate for policies that promote ecological justice. By participating in the Season of Creation, Christians are reminded of their role as stewards of the Earth and are encouraged to contribute to the healing of our planet through prayer, education, and concrete actions.
