PRAYERS FOR THE 7th SUNDAY OF THE YEAR (A)
PRIEST: We have heard and listened to the word of God and we are challenged to see and treat everyone with respect and dignity. We call and the Lord to help us in our need.
READER: Recognising that we are the living temples of the Holy Spirit, we ask the Lord to help us see others that way. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.
READER: Let us pray for the unemployed and those who are about to lose their means of livelihood. Help them to overcome their sense of despair and rejection, may they find the help they need. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.
Let us pray for those affected by the floods and changing climate. May those with the means and ability have the will and compassion to to help those most in need. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.
Let us pray that God may keep missionaries in his special care and grant them the faith, strength and protection they need today. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.
We pray for all those who are working for understanding and tolerance in our multi-faith, multi-cultural world. Help us take the lead in building bridges of friendship and understanding with other faiths and cultures in our neighbourhood. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.
Let us pray for all who mourn that they may be comforted. We remember all who are sick, those in hospital and those who are housebound. We remember especially the sick of our own parish congregation and our own families wherever they may be. Lord hear us. Response: Lord graciously hear us.
Now let us pray for a few moments in silence for our own needs and intentions.
Let us ask Mary the Mother of the Lord to pray with us: Hail Mary…
PRIEST: Almighty and ever-living God your in your goodness we are forgiven loved and cared for more than we can understand. As we share in this Eucharist together may our work, the fruit of our lives be seen as true worship. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN
