Dear Columban friend
Thank you for your interest in making a gift in your will, also known as a bequest or legacy, to support the work of Columban missionaries.
Mission is a call to love and each generation is called through baptism “to proclaim good news to the poor and recovery of sight to the blind” (Luke 4:18-19). Through the work of missionaries, the Kingdom of Heaven will flourish in the world today. This is God’s way of love embracing all the people of the earth; it is everyone living in a fully human way.
The work of mission is unpredictable and can take a long time to bear fruit. Patience and devotion are required to develop strong Christian communities that can reach out to those in need and challenge the unjust structures that hold people in poverty. Columbans spend many years laying deep foundations for others to build upon and your bequest will help this work to continue.
“We are here to do God’s will and we do not know 24 hours ahead what that will be”
Edward Galvin, co-founder of the Columbans
A new generation of Columbans from the Philippines, Chile, Fiji, Korea and Taiwan is preparing for their missionary task and your bequest will help to sustain them on their journey and open doors for their work with the poor and the marginalised.
For guidance on preparing or making changes to a will, the types of bequest you can make and the tax benefits of leaving a charitable bequest, we strongly recommend that you consult a qualified legal advisor with experience of drafting wills.
They will need to have the registered name and number of the charity, which is given below:
In England & Wales:

We are proud to be a member of the Your Catholic Legacy campaign, through which Catholic charities are combining their resources and expertise to encourage Catholics to make provision in a will for the people and causes they most care about. Should you decide to include Columban missionaries in your will, please let me know so I can say “thank you” on behalf of all our missionaries.
